Opera Buffa!

Players of Opera Buffa! will take center stage improvise the lost opera “La promessa della capra”, realizing their potential as operatic vocalists who either further or ruin their careers in the process. The tragic tale of “La promessa della capra” tells a story of those caught between unwanted marriages, plagued by jealous ghosts, and lured by honeyed words of a deceitful goat.

Never fear, for this opera was composed in an avant-garde style and is poorly translated; you will sing big and passionately, but you need not sing well! It’s a good thing for you that this “new age” opera is entirely unknown because this leaves you free to backstab and grandstand your way to fame and glory. The opera critics won’t know that you’re making it up!

Play involves techniques inspired by operatic singing that support players in the hilarious endeavor of improvising a ridiculous story while shamelessly emulating the dramatic bravado of the operatic singing style. No musical proficiency of any sort is required for play.

Lovestories By ABBA

A band during their last summer tour in the late 70ies. It’s love, drama, music, party, and the last days of the disco. By playing five party nights, we will tell the story of the band’s love and lives with new meetings, endings and the longing for something more.

We’ll sing and dance out our emotions for maximum drama, and the music of ABBA is used to express the character’s inner feelings. It’s a sing along, not karaoke – so all can join no matter of vocal skills.

Two cities side by side, but apart, at the night of the murder. Weird fiction, whodunnit.

The game is based on China Miéville’s Hugo Award-winning short story of the same name. Two cities, Besźel and Ul Qoma, live side by side, but apart. The residents are trained not to see each other, but what happens when a brutal murder forces both sides to work together?

Deranged

  • Content warning: Mental illness, suicide

Plagued by melancholy, madness, and mercury poisoning the aging composer Robert looks back on the series of mad events that tied his life so close together with the child prodigy Clara, the playful Felix, and the hopeful Johannes. How uncompromising musicality drove them from one extreme to the next — through the grand cities of Europe, prestigious parties, and to the verge of suicide. Caught between reality and dreams, Robert, on his deathbed, sees the double bars — La fin in the symphony of his life — and contemplates how everything would turn out if there was time for a Da capo.

Deranged is played out through the landmark events of the composers Clara Wiecks’, Robert Schumann’s, Felix Mendelssohn’s, and Johannes Brahms’ closely interwoven lives as seen through the memories of the aging and insane Schumann. On his deathbed, he relives his life by setting the scenes and through his participation in them, lives out what actually happened and how it would have been if things had turned out differently. The scenario is a drama about the conflicts in four composers’ lives and the choices they must make between recognition, artistic integrity, love, lust, and family.

Deranged is for players who want to be engulfed by a continuous flow of scenes about love, madness, and genius, which they create together on a foundation of beautiful romantic music — the music that permeated the lives of our main characters and, therefore, also this scenario. It is structured as a piece of chamber music with a series of movements that frames the dramatic course. Music is used to cut the scenes thereby allowing an uninterrupted style of play, which will engulf and seduce you.

Long Day’s Journey into Night

  • Family relations, addiction, life gone wrong

  • Game master: Otso Saariluoma

A day in the life of a family on the brink of tragedy, struggling to connect in the midst of addiction, illness and life gone wrong.

In this adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s semi-autobiographical play, we tell the story of the Tyrones, a family in the 1912 United States. The scenario revolves around love, compassion, unfulfilled dreams, life gone wrong, illness and addiction. In O’Neill’s words it is a story ”of old sorrow, written in tears and blood”. The scenario is for four players as family members and possibly one more player acting as the facilitator’s helper, playing the roles of the support characters.

The Family Andersson

The game is about a group of siblings who have gathered in the home of their recently deceased parents to discuss the inheritance. The mother died a little over a month ago after suffering from a chronic illness. The father died a few days ago from a heart attack. The funeral has been settled. What remains to settled this afternoon are the 700.000,- which the parents have earmarked to an undesignated charity.

It is also necessary to decide what will happen with the mansion. It must either be given to one of the siblings or be sold by the end of the year.  The siblings will also try to decide how to celebrate Christmas this year. They haven’t celebrated Christmas together for several years. But perhaps this year it is time to honor their parents?

House of Craving

  • Psychological horror in art deco
  • Designers: Tor Kjetil Edland, Danny Meyer Wilson
  • Game master: Arttu Hanska
  • Intensity: Tragedy
  • Players: 5
  • Duration: 4h

  • Content Warning: Sexual elements

His tongue traveled slowly up his stepbrother’s cheek. “I don’t understand why I am doing this. There is something wrong with this place.” There was a sudden pause, and a look of horror in his eyes. Yet he still stared longingly at the stepbrother’s body. The pause broke as he resumed his tender embrace and continued licking the ear.

House of Craving is a psychological horror scenario with physical and erotic elements. Wilhelm, a moderately successful writer of psychological horror novels, has inherited a house from his wife Lena who recently committed suicide. Trying to deal with his grief he has chosen to spend the summer with his family in her childhood home. There is a sinister turn of events, when the house begins to use the family to live out its perverted fantasies.

The scenes are played out with the body, along with physical touch, that emphasizes the feelings and desires of the characters. One of the players will play the house, which cannot speak to the others, but only communicates physically.

House of Craving is an award-winning freeform scenario premiered at Fastaval 2017 and later turned into a larp by the same name.

Love and War

  • World War 2 as a BBC drama
  • Designers: Fia Idegård and Anna Westerling
  • Game master: Alexander Tawast
  • Intensity: Drama
  • Players: 4
  • Duration: 4h

  • Content Warning: World War 2

Set during WW2, this scenario is like living through a BBC drama. Follow the lives of four young friends, who battle with relationships and everyday hardships, while doing their bit for England. This scenario will be like living through a six episodes long BBC drama, about ordinary young people in England during the Second World War. It is about relationships, drama, and everyday hardships in the shadow of the war.

The scenario follows four close friends – the happy-go-lucky soldier Charlie, the caring Jane, involved in saving London from the Blitz, the energetic Dottie, bound for service in the Air Force, and the introverted fighter pilot Will. We follow their lives, love, and relationships as they develop during the six year long war.

This is high drama with lots of emotions, from the passion of first love, to the deepest despair of war, and all the different shades in between. Even with war rumbling in the background life still goes on.

In every generation, the fight for gender equality goes on. No matter what victories we build upon, there is constantly a new glass roof to break through; there is always another sexist, misogynist or patriarchal structure that needs to be challenged. However, most of all we, need to conquer our own expectations and misgivings.

In Women you will experience the state of the Swedish feminist struggle during the last 100 years. You will dive down in five very different times and meet three very different women each time. There will be The Friend, the ex-radical; The Mother, who has accepted a life according to societal norms; and The Daughter, a radical who rebels against her mother and looks up to The Friend. These women are invented anew in each episode but still stay the same.

In the end you will be asked to figure out where you stand and what our generation will leave for the next generations to build upon, for our children and theirs to come.

I love Ana

I love Ana is a terrible love story about a group of people who are madly in love with Ana. Through declarations of love, tumblr posts, love letters and other physical demonstrations they proclaim their love to Ana and try to prove that they deserve the attention and love only Ana can give.

Unfortunately, Ana is demanding and merciless. It is difficult to love Ana the way she wants to be loved, so they will have to support each other to gain her affection. In the end, whether they obtain Ana’s Love is a matter of life or death.

“Drinking and gambling were, I am sorry to say, our principal pastimes”

– W. M. Thackeray, The Luck of Barry Lyndon

Everybody loves a bad boy. Rebels without a cause, sensitive anti-heroes, assholes with a heart of gold, they are everywhere in our pop culture. These bad boys go back a long way, at least to the 17th and 18th century, where they were known by  different names – rogues, libertines, debauchées. Probably the most enduring archetype of that time was the Rake. Drinking, gambling, dancing, getting into fights and wilful adventures, and first and foremost seducing women – and then leaving them in order to pursue the next one – this is what the Rake did, their deeds both scandalising and enticing audiences.

In The Rake’s Progress, your players will take turns to play such rakish characters, acting out their scandalous rise and tragic fall. They will also in turn play the rake’s allies, enemies and victims. The Rake can only exist surrounded by a society he can rebel against, whose rules he can break.
